The actors are starring in a new comedy
Fans of Pavel Tabakov have not yet decided whether the hairstyle of a merchant’s son suits him, but such an image is, to put it mildly, unusual for the actor. The other day, Tabakov Jr., as well as Ksenia Kutepova and Mikhail Porechenkov, were spotted in Tambov filming a historical project.
The action of the new series takes place in 1910, and the main characters are the family of the merchant of the second guild Fyodor Namolin (Mikhail Porechenkov). The merchant is an expectedly conservative, if not patriarchal, person. But he has a son (Pavel Tabakov), who, while studying in St. Petersburg, was imbued with socialist and anarchist ideas, and after returning to Moscow, the young man expresses complete disagreement with his father’s views, as well as the confidence that Russia will soon, scary to say, radically will change.
This time, a real comedy will unfold in historical interiors. It must be admitted that retro comedies are not a completely typical genre for our serial industry. Plots that involve historical settings are not always successful for local directors and producers, even if they are reconstructions of documentary events or biographies of famous people.
One can only guess how jokes written by contemporaries will sound performed by actors dressed in centuries-old costumes. Moreover, we are not talking about a fairy tale, but about a project where family conflicts are planned to be given a pronounced political and social background. After the start of filming, Mikhail Porechenkov expresses cautious optimism. “I found it interesting how the authors of the series found parallels in the mood of our time and the events of a hundred years ago, focusing on the most important thing – family relationships,” says the actor.
The Tambov museum complex “The Aseev Estate” is “filmed” as the main character’s house. The building was built in the 19th century and is designed in the style of Baroque, Classicism and Art Nouveau at the same time, which, of course, is very merchant-like. In January, the film crew will return to Moscow, where they will continue working in the Mosfilm pavilions.
