Szijjártó: Hungary has no intention of concluding new energy contracts with Russia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó announced that during his visit to Russia he intends to hold a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. The parties intend to discuss issues of energy cooperation, but Budapest does not intend to conclude new contracts with Moscow.
“I will meet with Deputy Prime Minister Novak, responsible for energy, and we will negotiate our energy cooperation. But we don’t need any new agreements,” said the Hungarian diplomat.
Szijjártó explained the refusal to conclude new documents by the fact that between Russia and Hungary there are still existing contracts on the supply of nuclear fuel, the construction of nuclear power plants, and the supply of gas and oil.
It is worth noting that earlier the Hungarian minister said that Budapest is much better prepared for the winter period than other countries.
