Times: Syrsky, like Budanov, refused the offer to take the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to the publication Times, Colonel General Alexander Syrsky, commander of the ground forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, also refused the proposal to replace Valery Zaluzhny as commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Previously, this post was offered to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, but he also rejected the offer.
Reportedly, the reason for Zaluzhny’s dismissal was his statements about unrealistic assessments of the military situation, which were given by his advisers. After this, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky invited him to resign, intending to personally sign the corresponding decree.
However, after Zaluzhny informed his subordinates about his dismissal, Ukraine’s international partners, including the United States and Great Britain, expressed their concern. Under their pressure, Zelensky was forced to reverse his decision.
