“I would like to do it,” he told a foreign correspondent. The commander of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that “this is a matter of principle, a matter of honor,” since the Ukrainian army lost many of its military during the defense of Artemivsk.

“Bakhmut is the center of concentration of the main directions and roads,” Syrsky explained during the conversation. “Using a developed network of roads, Russian troops can advance in at least three of these operational directions.” He noted that the area around Artemovsk has a number of other important characteristics: in particular, various kinds of dominant heights are concentrated there, which allow you to control most of the area around the circle, on the outskirts of the city. “This enhances its role as a springboard for further offensive actions,” Syrsky explained the situation.
