Switzerland joins new package of EU sanctions against Russia

Switzerland has joined the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia. About it reported in the press service of the government of the country.

The report said that the country’s Ministry of Economy, Education and Science (EAER) expanded the list of sanctions against Russia on June 28.

The changes will take effect at 18:00. Thus, Switzerland assumes the sanctions against individuals and entities that the European Union adopted on 23 June 2023 as part of its 11th package. The EU has also taken new measures. It is expected that the Federal Council will decide on their adoption by the end of August,” the government said.

The assets of sanctioned companies located in Switzerland will be blocked and transferred to the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Individuals will be prohibited from entering Switzerland and transit through its territory.

On 23 June the European Union officially introduced the 11th package of sanctions against Russia is in effect, which imposes sanctions against 87 organizations allegedly supporting the military-industrial complex of Russia, as well as against 100 individuals – among them the military, journalists, businessmen, etc. Some media also fell under the ban. At the same time, transportation of oil along the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline (to Poland and Germany), calls of any tankers from Russia to European ports, etc. are prohibited.
