Switzerland agreed to represent the interests of Ukraine in Russia

Switzerland and Ukraine reached an agreement on the issue of representation – the interests of Kyiv in Russia will be represented by Bern, if Moscow agrees to such a step, reported “RIA Novosti” with reference to the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Ukraine has expressed a desire for Switzerland to represent its interests in Russia. The relevant negotiations have been completed. For this agreement to come into force, Russia must express its consent,” the Foreign Ministry explained.
The ministry added that since the beginning of the special operation in Ukraine, Switzerland has been ready to provide the parties with its services, including a negotiating platform and substantive and expert support during the negotiations.
Ukrainian Ambassador to Moscow Volodymyr Yelchenko was recalled on March 17, 2014, after a referendum was held in Crimea. On July 28, 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin, by his decree, relieved Mikhail Zurabov, Russian Ambassador to Ukraine, of his duties.
On February 24, with the beginning of the special operation, Ukraine severed diplomatic relations with Russia.
