Swiss mountain pass to lose all ice sheet for the first time

In Switzerland, Bare Rock appears between the Scex Rouge and Tsanfleuron glaciers as they melt at an accelerated rate.
According to a local ski resort, a thick layer of ice that has covered a mountain pass in Switzerland for centuries will completely melt within a few weeks.
After a dry winter, the summer heat waves that hit Europe have become catastrophic for the Alpine glaciers, which are melting at an accelerated pace.
The pass between Scex Rouge and Tsanfleuron has been covered with ice since at least the Roman era.
But as both glaciers retreat, the bare rock of the ridge between them begins to emerge, and by the end of summer it will be completely free of ice.
