Swine flu detected in 74 regions of Russia

Rospotrebnadzor recorded the spread of H1N1 influenza (swine flu) in 74 regions of Russia. According to the agency, the incidence of influenza and SARS increased by 23% over the week.
Swine flu is the conventional name for a disease in humans and animals caused by strains of the influenza virus.
In addition, from report Rospotrebnadzor follows that in the structure of respiratory viruses of non-influenza etiology, the proportion of rhinoviruses (13.3%), RS viruses (12.0%), metapneumoviruses (10.1%), adenoviruses (7.2%) remains the highest.
According to the agency, today in Russia 49.5% of the population – more than 72.4 million people – are vaccinated. The leaders in influenza vaccination coverage are Tuva (61.5%) and Chechnya (50.5%). The shares of vaccinated residents in Moscow and the Moscow region amounted to 54.5% and 58.8%, respectively. In St. Petersburg, 58% are vaccinated, and in the Leningrad region – 54.2%.
November 18 Rospotrebnadzor announced about the start of the influenza and covid season. In particular, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko declared about the spread of swine flu.
The Moscow Department of Health also reported that both in the capital and in the country as a whole, a significant increase in the incidence of influenza and SARS was recorded. The number of hospitalized children in the current year is 2–2.5 times higher than the average for the pre-COVID epidemic seasons of 2016–2019.
