Sverdlovsk sambists won a third of the medals of the Russian team at the European Championship

The Russian SAMBO team won 67 medals at the European Championships and Championships, which were held in Israel. 479 athletes from 23 countries of the world took part in the competition.

22 athletes represented the Sverdlovsk region. Of the total number of Russian awards (67), they won 23 medals: 19 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze.

Several dozen fans greeted the Sverdlovsk residents with a standing ovation at the Koltsovo airport.

An excellent result was shown by adults, girls and boys (16-18 years old). Athletes took all the gold medals of the Championship. Boys – 6 gold medals.

Athletes aged 14-16 have 8 gold and 1 silver medals. Boys – 7 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

Part of the European Championship was the selection for the World Martial Arts Games, which will be held in Saudi Arabia. The representative of the UMMC SAMBO Club Anton Brachev passed the additional selection for these competitions in the absolute category. In women, the best in the weight category up to 65 kilograms was the representative of the Sverdlovsk region, Yana Polyakova. He will take part in the World Martial Arts Games.

Earlier, MK-Ural reported that sambo wrestlers of the Verkhnepyshma UMMC club became winners of the Russian Youth Championship under 24. The tournament was held in the city of Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region. The press service of the UMMC informed that Danir Shamsutdinov (up to 58 kg category) won the championship, Andrey Ayubov (up to 98 kg) won silver.
