The London police said that the detainee was involved in foreign policy issues, including contacts with China. He also lived for some time in China previously, where, as police suspect, he was recruited.
The material states that the detainee was in contact with senior members of the Conservative Party, including secret bearers. The names of Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Security Tom Tugendhat and Chairman of the British Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Alicia Kern are mentioned.
The man was detained on March 13, but then he was released on bail until October. According to the Times, this story could become one of the biggest spy scandals in the country’s history.
