Supplies of Zoloft antidepressant to Russia resumed – Kommersant

Roszdravnadzor announced the resumption of supplies of the Zoloft antidepressant, the rights to which have been owned by the American company Viatris since 2020. The last time interruptions in the supply of the drug to Russia was reported in October 2022.
“On June 22, 2023, the manufacturing company notified Roszdravnadzor about the resumption of supplies of the Zoloft drug,” they said. TASS in the press service of the department, without specifying the country where the medicine is manufactured.
According to the publication Vademecum, for the first time the shortage of “Zoloft” in Russia was recorded in 2020, then in 2021, the last time – in regional pharmacies – in October 2022. Then the lack of medicine was associated with problems in production and excessive demand.
According to the analytical company DSM Group, Zoloft is one of the most popular antidepressants in Russia. The share of the drug in 2022 fell 10 times, giving way to Asentra (KRKA), Stimuloton (Gedeon Richter) and Serlift (Indian Sun).
According to Eapteka.ru, now in pharmacies presented “Zoloft”, produced by a subsidiary of Pfizer. The price of the drug in a dosage of 50 mg is 344 rubles. “Asentra” – 134 rubles, “Serlift” – 306 rubles, “Stimuloton” is not available.
The international non-proprietary name for Zoloft is Sertraline. It is a drug from the group of serotonin reuptake inhibitors. An antidepressant provides a balanced supply of serotonin, thereby helping a person stay calm and focused.
The drug is often prescribed to patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. At the end of May 2023, the Ministry of Health developed a standard for medical care for patients with PTSD. According to doctors, at risk for developing the disorder are combatants, residents of border areas, as well as doctors, volunteers and refugees. The Ministry of Health has proposed treating PTSD with aromatic baths, healing showers, “climate exposure”, air and sun.
