Moscow sums up the results of the outgoing year. Despite all its difficulties, the urban economy of the capital can speak of its successful completion. The life of 1.85 million Muscovites has become more comfortable.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced this in a report to the Moscow City Duma.
So, as a result of the overhaul, more than 2.8 million residents of the capital now live in better conditions. In particular, since 2015, engineering systems have been replaced in 10,000 apartment buildings and structural elements have been repaired.
More than 3.5 million Muscovites use the new elevators.
It was possible to put the yards in order as much as possible, they became bright and safe.
The city authorities have set a goal to create a comfortable space for leisure, relaxation, communication next to the house according to world standards. As a result, Muscovites now have 26,000 modern playgrounds and sports grounds within walking distance, and people walk along well-maintained streets and parks.
Four times as many buildings were decorated with architectural and artistic lighting.
Instead of old, abandoned territories, modern spaces appeared: the embankment in Kapotnya, the “Island of Dreams”, the Academic Park, Khodynskoye Pole and others.
The historical appearance of the city center has been recreated. These are 280 objects, including: Garden, Boulevard and Kremlin rings, Novy Arbat, Tverskaya street, 180 kilometers of iconic squares and streets. Walks near the water became possible, for example, the embankment of the Khimki reservoir with the reconstruction of the park of the Northern River Station.
Moscow took 1st place in Russia in terms of the Urban Environment Quality Index.
In 2021-2022, 12 million trees and shrubs were planted as part of city programs.
569 species of unique flora and fauna of Moscow are carefully protected and restored.
“We are implementing many projects of a high-quality urban environment,” the mayor noted. “Beautification will make all metropolitan areas equally comfortable, and each of them unique.
