Upgraded Ka-52M helicopters were used for the first time in the Northern Military District zone. This was reported by the RIA-Novosti news agency, with reference to a statement from the Russian military department.

Military expert Alexey Sukonkin, in a conversation with MK, listed the main advantages of rotary-wing combat vehicles.

It is reported that K-52M attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk direction. The pilots carried out a combat mission to support ground forces units. The department clarified that Russian helicopters carried out an attack with unguided aircraft missiles on enemy strongholds and manpower, during which the control center and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed.

– In short, now, thanks to the implemented set of measures, the helicopter can fire light multi-purpose guided missiles (LMUR) “Izdeliye 305”. LMUR is a guided air-to-surface missile designed for various types of carriers and capable of hitting a wide range of ground targets, both stationary and moving. The rocket has a solid fuel engine, with which it reaches speeds of up to 220-230 m/s. The maximum launch range is 14.5 km. This missile has high performance and is capable of hitting a variety of targets due to its use with different carriers. Domestic helicopters of three main types can carry and use LMUR. The missile carries a sufficiently large explosive charge, allowing it to hit large objects, such as, for example, a command post, communications center, location, barracks or hangar with military equipment. This is if we talk about changes in weapons. As part of the complex, the gyro-stabilized optical-electronic station (GOES) has undergone changes, due to which the target detection range and the stability of its operation have increased. This included improvements in the operation of the thermal imaging channel. To put it simply, the helicopter can now see further, and the picture itself is more stable. The operator sees the image more clearly, which allows for more accurate target identification. In practice, there were cases when, for example, they fired at tanks that had already been knocked out, since it was impossible to understand the condition of the equipment; now the operator can accurately determine that this tank has already been knocked out. The K-52M also has an improved onboard defense system that protects the helicopter from thermally guided missiles. It is worth noting that improvements in this part are ongoing; they are based on the experience gained at one time in Syria, and now in the special operation zone. Each new series, which is ten helicopters, comes with significant changes. The K-52M can be described as helicopters, as machines capable of hitting more distant targets and ensuring the safety of the lives of personnel. I personally witnessed the emotional upsurge that appeared among our soldiers in the front lines when they saw the work of the K-52M helicopters and understood how serious the machines were involved in combat operations. People were sincerely happy.
