Study: Majority of Britons Oppose God’s Gender Change

Two-thirds of the people surveyed in the UK oppose plans by the Anglican Church to consider the idea of a gender-neutral God. The results of the study are reported by the Daily Mail.
According to the plan of the published project of the church, priests can stop using the pronouns “he” and “his” when referring to God. It is also proposed to remove the phrase “Our Father” from the prayers.
The British consulting company Redfield & Wilton Strategies conducted a study on this topic. According to the results, 65% of respondents oppose the gender-neutral designation of God. The unusual initiative was supported by only 15%.
Among young people aged 18 to 24, 26% approve of the idea of a gender-neutral God. And among the older generation – from 55 to 64 years – only 6%.
The Guardian previously reported that the Church of England is exploring the possibility of using gender-neutral terms to refer to God. According to the clergy, this spring a prepared project on gender language will be considered.
