Students of School No. 2065 created a drone that can find smoldering peat bogs

A team of students from school No. 2065, together with the supervisor, chemistry teacher Lyubov Obolenskaya, developed a project for an unmanned aerial vehicle that is able to find smoldering peat bogs. This is due to the fact that the device determines the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air during the flight and transmits the information to the operator.
The first such drone was presented by schoolchildren at the 10th Moscow International Forum “Engineering Personnel – the Basis of Technological Sovereignty”. The invention was highly appreciated by specialists of the copter intelligence department of the Volunteer Forest Firefighters of the Central Region, which was created on the basis of the Biological Faculty named after. M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University. The project became the winner of the forum, as well as the winner of the conference “Kurchatov project – from knowledge to practice, from practice to result.”
At the moment, a group of young schoolchildren are thinking about improving their invention in order to improve its indication.
– So far we have two indication options. You can look at the drone from afar, and then it works at the level of a traffic light: little gas – the tape glows green, more – yellow, exceeding the level – red. And in laboratory conditions, when the drone is on the table next to the source of gas emission, data on its concentration are sent to the tablet via a USB cable,” Lyubov Obolenskaya said.
When the model is tested, the guys are going to present it to the professional community.
