Courted by many clubs including Paris SG, the Ivorian international midfielder of RC Lens Seko Fofana finally extended his one-year contract with the Sang et Or on Wednesday. The signing was made on the lawn of the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in the wake of Lens’ fine victory against Lorient (5-2), during a great sound and light animation. Its lease, which expired in 2024, will therefore last until 2025.
“Before arriving here, the project was to stabilize and grow the club. This season, I think there will be a way to do something bigger,” said Captain Seko at the microphone, in front of more than 34,000 supporters. In the small papers of many luxury teams, the 27-year-old midfielder will therefore stay at RCL, second in Ligue 1 and which he joined in August 2020, just after returning to the top flight.
The Ivorian international, who had put the selection on hold, announced last July that he was available again and should therefore appear in the next list of Jean-Louis Gasset, the new coach of the Elephants.
