Former leader of the DPR militia, Igor Strelkov, said that after his arrest and transfer to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center, he felt a deterioration in his health. This was announced by the executive secretary of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission Alexei Melnikov.
According to the human rights activist, the prisoner is being provided with medical assistance, from the very beginning of his stay in the pre-trial detention center, “the doctor of the medical unit of the detention center began to observe Girkin in the regular mode.” He added that the person involved in the criminal case was offered to be examined in the hospital of the Federal Penitentiary Service, but “Igor Vsevolodovich replied that he did not see the point in this yet.”
The POC did not reveal any violations of the conditions of Strelkov’s detention in the pre-trial detention center. It is indicated that there is a TV set and a refrigerator in the cell, correspondence and receiving programs are available to him. Strelkov himself also told the PMC that the SIZO staff were polite to him and that they fed him well.
