Russian Defense Ministry delegation arrives in Libya for first official visit

The Russian delegation of the Ministry of Defense, headed by Deputy Minister Colonel-General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, arrived in Libya. About it informed press service of the Russian military ministry.
The military delegation arrived in Libya at the invitation of the commander of the Libyan National Army, Marshal Khalifa Hawtar. The visit was prepared following the results of negotiations between the two countries within the framework of the Army-2023 forum and the 21st Moscow International Security Conference.
The Ministry of Defense stressed that this is the first official visit of the Russian military delegation to Libya. The parties plan to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the field of combating international terrorism and “other issues of joint action.”
July 28 Russian President Vladimir Putin spent negotiations with the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, Mohammed Menfi. During the meeting, which was held as part of the Russia-Africa summit, Menfi said that the presidential council was interested in reliable stabilization in the country and called the issue of the withdrawal of mercenaries from Libya a matter of principle. He also stressed that he is focused on the agreements reached on Libya, including the holding of elections.
