The North Atlantic Alliance should not underestimate Russia after the events of the past weekend. This statement was made on Tuesday, June 27, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
As the politician stressed, NATO should provide maximum support to Ukraine, because “the more land they occupy, the stronger will be the position of Kyiv in the upcoming negotiations.”
Previously, Stoltenberg has already commented on the attempted military rebellion in the Russian Federation. Then he said that this was an internal affair of Russia, but confirmed that the alliance was studying the situation in the country and track its development.
Sources in the West have stated that NATO headquarters maintained contacts with Russia after an attempted armed rebellion by PMC “Wagner”, and among the informal and unofficial contacts of the headquarters of the alliance, presumably, there was also a contact with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to the Western media, the purpose of the communication was to “stretch a network that can protect against a possible rapid development of events.”
