Stavropol runner Artem Chernov from the village of Lysogorskaya became the bronze medalist of the Armageddon mountain ultra race, which is considered one of the most difficult in the whole world, since the route runs along the Main Caucasian Range, crossing several republics along the way: Dagestan, Chechen, Ingush, North Ossetia – Alania, Karachay-Cherkess and Kabardino-Balkaria. Participants run 952 kilometers cross-country.
There are 23 checkpoints along the entire distance. To avoid disqualification, each participant must have time to check in at the next base within a certain time. Such a crazy race requires not only physical fitness and great endurance, but also boundless fortitude.
As Andrey Zaitsev, the head of the Georgievsky district, said in his telegram channel, the Stavropol athlete arrived third at the finish line – with a result of 334 hours and 45 minutes.
“Just incredible numbers! – said the head of the district. – From the bottom of my heart I congratulate Artem Chernov and wish him new success in the future! I know that this is not his first achievement, and I am sure it will not be the last!
