State of emergency introduced in Tatarstan due to drought

In Tatarstan, a state of emergency (ES) was introduced in connection with the death of crops as a result of drought. Head of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov signed the corresponding order.
The document states that the emergency situation at the regional level is introduced to “prevent the threat to food security resulting from a complex of hazardous natural phenomena that led to the death of crops.”
The state of emergency is introduced on the territory of all 43 regions of Tatarstan. The heads of municipalities are obliged to inform the population and within five days to develop a plan to overcome the consequences of the emergency. Such a plan should also be prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic. The state of emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
On the eve of the Minister of Agriculture of Tatarstan Marat Zyabbarov at a press conference toldthat soil and atmospheric drought is observed in the regions of the republic. With a norm of 60 mm, only 15 mm of precipitation fell in June. According to him, the state of emergency will have a positive impact on those farms that are insured, and will affect the compensation for damage.
