State of emergency introduced in Omsk region due to fires - Kommersant

The Governor of the Omsk region Vitaly Khotsenko announced the introduction of an emergency situation (ES) regime in the region due to wildfires. He announced this at a meeting of the operational headquarters. Due to fires, the northern and central parts of the region are at particular risk.

“I instructed the heads of districts to strengthen daily monitoring of the situation related to fires, as well as to organize work to inform the population,”— said Mr Khotsenko. From May 9, until further notice, all types of hunting are prohibited in 11 districts in the north of the Omsk region.

The issue of allocating money for modern special equipment to municipal districts to extinguish fires is being considered, the governor also said. The fire situation is complicated by hot weather, strong winds and lack of precipitation, he noted.

In the Omsk region predicted 5th class of forest fire danger in Pavlograd, Isilkulsky and Odessa regions and 4th – in the rest of the territory. This is reported by the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations. This afternoon in the Omsk region in places expected strong wind with gusts of 15–18 m/s, it will get colder in the region on May 9.

On May 7, the state of emergency due to fires was introduced in Kurgan And Tyumen areas.
