Vice Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov (New People) sent appeals to governors with a request to make May 2-5 non-working days, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the party. In this case, the May holidays will last from May 1 to May 9.
According to Mr. Davankov, Russians need “really long weekends” because they feel the symptoms of depression. Where he got this data, the deputy did not specify.
“37% of Russians are now experiencing symptoms of depression: a 2-fold increase even compared to the coronavirus year, where there was little good. We need to give people a normal rest,” he said.
April 5 faction “New people” submitted to the State Duma long holiday bill from 1 to 9 May. It is proposed to introduce long weekends by reducing the New Year holidays. Vladislav Davankov is convinced that “it’s better to go to the spring forest for barbecue on an extra weekend than to sit at home with salads in the winter.”
