State Duma deputy Sheremet proposed moving the Statue of Liberty from the USA to Russia

State Duma deputy from Crimea, United Russia member Mikhail Sheremet believes that the Statue of Liberty should be moved from American New York to one of the Russian cities. The parliamentarian connected his idea with the fact that the United States has now “ceased to be a stronghold of democracy.”

“The United States effectively parasitized the economies of other states, turning from a bastion of democracy into a bastion of despotism and violence, bringing war and destruction throughout the world. Therefore, the Statue of Liberty should be dismantled and moved to Russia,” the politician said “RIA News”. He expressed confidence that now “it is Russia that protects the rights of other peoples and countries to freedom of choice and development.”

Mikhail Sheremet also called the policies of current American President Joe Biden “defective” and said that under him the United States “lost its former respect in the world.”

October 6 Crimean authorities dismantled a copy of the American Statue of Liberty, which was located in the miniature park near Bakhchisarai. Speaker of the State Council of the Republic Vladimir Konstantinov took part in the dismantling of the sculpture. According to him, this is a very important symbolic act. He is convinced that “Russian civilization deserves its monuments.”
