The head of the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs, Nina Ostanina (KPRF), proposed introducing criminal penalties for “sorcerers and magicians.” She said that she is preparing a corresponding bill.
Ostanina noted that in Russia there is confidence in such false healers and fortune-tellers. They can also be found on TV channels. In her opinion, it is necessary first to adopt a law on psychological activity and provide citizens with the opportunity to seek help from a specialist, and then toughen the punishment for “sorcerers” for their fraudulent activities.
“There are too many swindlers of all kinds, who, starting with the fact that people are left without apartments, money, but also cause irreparable damage to health,” the deputy said.
Recall that in Russia there is a law “On Health Protection”, according to which citizens who have studied permission from the regional executive authorities in the field of health protection have the right to practice traditional medicine. However, traditional medicine does not include occult and magical services.
