Stas Mikhailov met the New Year with his family and friends. Stas admits: lately he has become increasingly aware of the value of a family. About this, and also about why he has recently reduced the number of tours, Stas told MK.
“I celebrate the New Year in the same way as in all other families,” says the artist. – A family table with some salads on it, duck. The greatest joy for me is the sincere atmosphere, relatives and friends nearby. I wanted to go to warmer climes, but the children said: “Dad, we want snow!” That’s why we celebrated here. My daughters wanted to go skiing, sledding, play snowball fights…
Do you remember your most unusual New Year?
“That was when my brother was alive. Unforgettable moments – when the whole family gathers. Over the years, you begin to understand more and more that the greatest value is in who is next to you. I will say banal, maybe simple things, but it is really important for me that my parents, my family, my children are next to me. This is the greatest happiness. There is nothing more valuable than loved ones. Therefore, in the coming year, I want to wish: the main thing is that there are no losses, but there are gains.
– Your wife said that she always carefully chooses gifts for you to truly please. What do you want to get this year?
To be honest, giving gifts is much more pleasant for me than receiving.
– What do children ask you for the New Year?
They don’t ask me for anything. Now this is a youth fashion: they like something that I don’t even know what it’s called (smiles). Masha may ask for a soft toy, a lamp or felt-tip pens.
– Your big name does not interfere with children?
I don’t give them that opportunity. Ivanka is older now. She wants, like any person from a creative family, to show that she herself can be realized. That’s not bad. Let him try. Although I have no desire for my children to sing. But if they show themselves, then of course I will help. But it seems to me that none of the children will follow in my footsteps.
– In the past year, you began to tour less. What is it connected with?
– I myself made such a decision – indeed, I do not work much. I have been working all my life, with the exception of the pandemic and current events. For almost 15 years non-stop. Now is the time to think. In my case, less touring activity – more creative. I have recorded two albums. When you are constantly on tour, there is no room for creativity, for ordinary human joys. Today I was driving in a car and watched a video where our Ivanka is still a very little girl. Due to the fact that I was on tour, I missed a lot. It is necessary to catch the moment when the children are small, to be near them. Unfortunately, I can’t always do it, but I try.
Do you remember what you spent your first fee on?
– It was a long time ago. I performed in Dagomys and received 50 dollars. I spent it on my family. Then I was twenty years old. And that’s when I felt like a man.
By the way, they say that you never watch your performances on TV. Why?
– I look only in exceptional cases: when you need to understand whether I did the right thing or not. I am no longer at the age to admire myself. And to be honest, I don’t like myself very much. I think it’s the same for any artist. If you like yourself, it’s bad, something is already wrong. That’s why I don’t watch or listen to myself.
— And how do you feel about young performers, of which there have been many recently?
– If it is talented, without swearing and vulgarity, then I only welcome. I am glad that a lot of new artists have appeared lately. Some leave, others come. This is right. The main thing is that this process of emergence should not be short. Not a one-time situation, but for many years. I sometimes go in the car, the driver puts on some music. I may like it very much. I say: “Stop, and who sings this?” New names should appear. It can’t be that there is only a group of artists who perform year after year.
