Officially, the Starlink satellite network is not available to residents of Russia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Venezuela, Iran, Cuba, China, North Korea and Syria. In February, the Starlink Global Roaming Service tariff was launched with a monthly fee of $200, which allows you to connect to Starlink from anywhere in the world, including countries where the company is not represented.
The cost of equipment for Starlink satellite Internet in Russia is from 659 thousand rubles. The cost and payment options for traffic are not reported. At the same time, the use of Starlink and the networks of the competing company OneWeb in Russia may be punishable by a fine after making in the spring of 2022, the relevant amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Recall that since 2019, foreign satellite operators in Russia have been obliged to pass traffic through the Russian ground station. As a result, in order to provide access to the Internet, Elon Musk’s company needs permission to use frequencies from the State Commission on Radio Frequencies, interaction with the FSB, the Ministry of Communications and other government agencies.
