Starlink satellite Internet may appear in Mongolia. This decision was made by the owner of the company Elon Musk and the Prime Minister of the country Luvsannamsrein Oyuun-Erdene in the framework of negotiations, transmits CNBC.
Musk and Oyuun-Erdene agreed to expand Starlink’s reach to Mongolia. The company has been registered in the country since 2022, and a full-fledged launch of the network is planned for 2023, the newspaper writes.
From the statement of the Mongolian government, it follows that the talks discussed the possibility of Tesla expanding into the Mongolian market – batteries for electric vehicles will be produced there, since the country is rich in rare earth metals and copper. The government encourages cooperation with international companies to develop new technologies and attract investment to Mongolia. The Prime Minister of the country supports the use of electric vehicles and encourages citizens to do so.
Earlier on May 31, Elon Musk met in Beijing with China’s Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and China’s Minister of Industry and Informatization Jin Zhuanglong. Then Musk said that he was as little involved in politics as possible and assured that Tesla was ready to expand its business in China.
