The State Duma announced its intention to discuss amendments to legislation to combat stalkers
The State Duma wants to discuss amendments to legislation to combat stalkers. The initiators believe that persecution of a person against his will should be subject to punishment: a fine or forced labor.
About this in conversation with “Moscow speaks” informed the head of the Russian State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov.
The problem is of a social nature, said the parliamentarian, who will discuss this issue together with experts and lawyers. “Perhaps we will propose adjustments to the current administrative or criminal legislation,” Nilov said.
As for the range of sanctions for persecution, “it would be possible to give different ones, ranging from a fine to forced labor.” If a person has the strength to walk and chase, then it is better to do socially useful work, Nilov believes.
