Stalin’s personality changed in history textbooks: no longer a “beast”

The scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society, Mikhail Myagkov, said that the new unified history textbook would provide schoolchildren with “objective” information about the personality of Joseph Stalin.
During a press conference, Myagkov said that the textbooks of the 1990s were financed by the Soros Foundation and other Western NGOs, and that is why “the criminal Stalinist regime was a common thread” in the books. Now, the director of the RVIO asserts, Russian schoolchildren will be told about Stalin’s personality “properly, objectively.”
So, if earlier Stalin was described as “a tyrant, a beast, an incompetent commander who filled up the enemy with corpses,” now children will be taught that this is a person who “clearly defended the interests of Soviet foreign policy, including during the years of the Battle of Kursk.”
“This is the man who nominated our commanders of the victory,” Myagkov said.
