St. Petersburg will host a marathon of the contest “You’re in the game” for the Day of the athlete

The festival of sports, history and culture will be held in St. Petersburg on August 12 as part of the celebration of the Day of the Athlete. In our city, as well as throughout Russia, a marathon-spartakiad will begin, which was organized by the participants of the All-Russian competition “You are in the game.” The holiday itself appeared thanks to the federal project “Sport is the norm of life” of the national project “Demography”.

This festival was created on the idea of ​​one of the participants in the contest “You’re in the game”, and it will be held on Krestovsky Island in St. Petersburg. The first locations of the holiday will open at 11:00 and will work until the very end at 18:00.

Guests of the event will be able to attend master classes in various popular martial arts organized by members of the Russian Union of Martial Arts from St. Petersburg, the Leningrad Region and Veliky Novgorod. For example, points on the island will open schools of karate, judo, historical Japanese fencing, unarmed wrestling. Of particular interest will be the healing system of taijiquan, which helps to get rid of insomnia, normalize the functioning of the whole organism and lose weight.

Entertainment during the holiday will not be limited to competitions. Thus, the Street Athletics movement will test Petersburgers and guests of the city for general physical fitness. After evaluation by experts, participants will be able to find out their level of strength and various types of endurance. At the very beginning, they will be waiting for the Cooper Running Test, in which they need to run as far as possible in 12 minutes. After that, the result is ranked on a special scale and it is reported how well the person has developed endurance.

In addition to St. Petersburg, professional testing of the level of physical fitness will be held in Omsk, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnoyarsk, Tolyatti, Novokuibyshevsk, Kursk, Belgorod, Kurchatov, Gorshechny, Chernyanka, Valuyki, Zheleznogorsk, Stary Oskol and Gubkin.

The You’re in the Game competition helps to popularize a healthy lifestyle and active longevity among Russians, and also promotes sports initiatives from all over our country. It allows you to talk about your own idea, and then find sponsors and partners to implement it.

In addition to informational support, the winners can receive 300,000 rubles in five different categories, and the winner of the Grand Prix is ​​awarded 1 million rubles. Over the three seasons of the competition, more than 11 thousand sports projects took part in it, the start of the next one is scheduled for autumn 2023.

“It gives impetus to projects to develop and scale. The authors hold events, come up with new sports activities, involving citizens in regular physical education and sports. Authors of projects from more than 20 regions of the country joined the marathon of sports initiatives”– said the Minister of sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin.

Participants from all over the country talk about their initiatives at the federal level.

According to the plan of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life”, in seven years the number of Russians who go in for sports to maintain vigor will reach 70%. Therefore, in addition to information promotion and public events, within the framework of the project, the TRP complex is being revived and the sports infrastructure of cities is being improved.
