St. Petersburg utility workers sued Alexander Rosenbaum's beer chain

In St. Petersburg, JSC Nevsky Ecological Operator (NEO) filed a lawsuit against Tolsty Fraer LLC, which owns a chain of beer bars of the same name (there are six in total in the city). The network was founded by musician and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Rosenbaum more than 20 years ago. Claims against the company arose due to debt for services for the management of municipal solid waste (MSW).

The arbitration case card indicates that NEO, starting in January 2022, has not received full payment for the removal of solid waste. The amount of debt for the entire period, taking into account penalties, penalties and legal costs, amounted to more than 370 thousand rubles.

In September, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region recovered this amount from the LLC in favor of NEO. The defendant did not agree with this and filed an application to suspend the judicial act, but this was denied. After this, representatives of the “Fat Friar” appealed to a higher authority. Meeting on it will take place at the beginning of February.

The Arbitration Court’s file lists another dispute between the parties regarding the payment for electricity, in which the utility companies are demanding to recover more than 80 thousand rubles from the “Fat Friar.”

The popular St. Petersburg beer hall “Tolsty Friar” appeared in 2003. The restaurants are named after Alexander Rosenbaum’s song “Fraer”, but the owners themselves insist on the word “beer”. The founder and ideologist of the establishments was Mr. Rosenbaum himself. Opening this kind of establishment was “a long-term dream of the musician, which he brought to life together with his business partner Nadezhda Lyubina.” The latter refused to give any comments about the situation.
