$250,000 piece of ambergris found in Canary Islands
Residents of the Canary Islands in Spain found “sperm whale vomit” worth $250,000. The New York Post writes about it.
According to the source, ambergris was found inside a sperm whale that washed up on the beach of Palma Island in May. According to experts, ambergris stuck in the large intestine became the cause of death of the animal.
At the moment, it is not known to whom the money from the sale of the valuable find will be given. Until the decision of the authorities, the ambergris will be located at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At the same time, a representative of the university, Antonio Fernandez, assured that if the ambergris is valuable, then the money from the sale will be distributed among people in need. In particular, funds can be received by those affected by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano in 2021.
