Spartak received information about the arrest of its forward Promes in the UAE

The Moscow football club “Spartak” received information from representatives of football player Quincy Promes about changing his preventive measure in the UAE. Spartak expressed hope for a favorable outcome for its striker. March 12 Promes was arrested in Dubai at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office, he was previously under house arrest.
“Lawyers and manager Quincy Promes notified the club of a change in the preventive measure against the football player, who was detained in the UAE. Promes’ defense will continue the appeal process of the Amsterdam District Court’s verdict related to the Dutch authorities’ request for his extradition to the Netherlands. We hope for a favorable outcome for our football player,” says Spartak in a statement (quoted from RIA Novosti).
On February 14, a court in the Netherlands sentenced the Spartak Moscow forward to six years in prison for drug smuggling. February 29 athlete detained at Al Maktoum International Airport in the UAE during passport control and taken to the police station. On March 4 it became known that Promes placed under house arrest in Dubai. On March 12, the preventive measure for the football player was changed; at the request of the Dutch prosecutor’s office, he was transferred to a cell. The Dutch authorities intend to seek the footballer’s extradition.
