Spartak football player Sobolev suspended for 4 matches for insulting gesture

The Control and Disciplinary Committee (CDC) of the Russian Football Union (RFU) disqualified Spartak striker Alexander Sobolev for four matches of the Russian Championship for an insulting gesture towards CSKA defender Willian Roshi, reported press office RFS. At the 66th minute of the Sunday meeting of the capital’s teams, Sobolev defiantly grabbed his groin after a lost duel. The red card for Rocher, who repeated the gesture for the referee, was cancelled.
“We have watched the video. Of course, the committee believes that the act is cynical in nature, in the presence of 25 thousand spectators, the whole country saw a cynical gesture towards the opponent. Sobolev has a systematic disciplinary violations: punishment in the Cup, punishment for foul play, ”said Artur Grigoryants, head of the FTC at the meeting (quote – RB “Sport”).
Spartak intends to appeal against the decision of the FTC after it requests and receives the full text of the decision. “Alexander apologized at the meeting, calmly and honestly answered the questions of the committee members,” said Dmitry Zelenov, press attache of the club (quote – Sports.ru).
