Spartak football player Promes sentenced in Amsterdam to 18 months in prison

An Amsterdam court has sentenced Spartak Moscow player Quincy Promes in absentia to 18 months in prison for assaulting his cousin, Reuters reports. The incident happened at a party in July 2020. The football player attacked his relative with a knife.
Now Promes lives in Moscow. In May, the Dutch prosecutor’s office also charged the football player with complicity in drug smuggling. We are talking about two parties with a total weight of 1370 kg. According to investigators, Promes committed the acts incriminated to him back in 2020.
Quincy Promes played for Spartak from 2014 to 2018, after which he played for Sevilla and Ajax. From the latter, he returned to Moscow in 2021, signing a contract with Spartak for three and a half years for €8.5 million (with bonuses, the cost could reach €11 million). The salary of the Dutchman in Russia, according to unofficial data, is about €3.5 million per season.
