The Moscow football club “Spartak” does not confirm reports that the Dutch midfielder of the Quincy Promes team has been suspended from participation in all tournaments. According to Spartak, no such decisions were made.
“We were not informed about any decisions of the sports courts regarding Promes. We believe that there is an error on the portal that published this information. Nothing prevents Quincy from preparing for the season, ”said reporters “Sport-Express” head of the press service of “Spartak” Dmitry Zelenov.
The message about the suspension of Quincy Promes from participation in all football tournaments and competitions was published by the profile portal Transfermarkt without links to the source of information.
In June, by a court decision in Amsterdam, the Spartak striker was sentenced in absentia to one year and six months in prison for a fight in 2020, during which Promes stabbed his cousin in the knee.
Quincy Promes is a citizen of the Netherlands but lives in Moscow. The footballer’s lawyer Robert Malevich told the Dutch broadcaster RTL Nieuws that the footballer is now in the process of obtaining a Russian passport. In March of this year, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation refused to help the football player Promes in obtaining Russian citizenship due to ongoing criminal trials involving the player in the Netherlands.
