Spanish Prime Minister infected with coronavirus and will not attend G20

Pedro Sánchez, Spain’s acting prime minister, has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be unable to attend the G20 summit in India.
In a post on social media site X, Sanchez wrote: “I tested positive for COVID this afternoon and will not be able to travel to New Delhi for the G20 summit.” The politician noted that he feels good.
According to Sanchez, Spain will be represented instead by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation Nadia Calviño and Foreign Minister José Manuel Albarez.
India holds the G20 Presidency starting December 1, 2022. The group’s summit will take place in New Delhi on September 9-10. The leaders of the G20 member countries, as well as 9 guest states are invited to the event: Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the UAE, Oman and Singapore. The Russian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and the People’s Republic of China will be represented by Prime Minister of the State Council Li Qiang.
