The Falcon 9 launch vehicle successfully launched another batch of 54 mini-satellites for the orbital constellation of the Starlink global Internet coverage network. This was announced by the developer company on Twitter.
Falcon 9 was launched from the 4th launch complex at the US Space Forces base at Cape Canaveral in Florida at 23:50 15.07 (06:50 16.07 Moscow time). 54 mini-satellites were launched into orbit in about an hour.
SpaceX originally planned to launch on July 14th. However, the launch canceled 40 seconds before the start. It was postponed to July 15, and then canceled again. The reasons are unknown.
This is the 94th launch of Starlink satellites since May 2019 and the 25th since early 2023. Within the framework of the project, more than 4.8 thousand mini-satellites were launched into orbit, some of them failed or went out of orbit. About 4.5 thousand remain in working condition.
SpaceX plans to deploy an orbital constellation of 12,000 spacecraft, and then increase the network to 30,000 vehicles. The amount of investment in the project is estimated at $10 billion.
