The American publication SpaceNews reports that European civil and military space organizations are making decisions to revise budgets in favor of greater independence from partners.
For example, Stefaan De Meja, senior human and robot research strategist at the European Space Agency (ESA), said that one of the lessons of the Ukrainian conflict was that the EU needs to have autonomous transport capabilities, and this is currently “problem number one”.
SpaceNews recalled that earlier it was planned to launch satellites of the Galileo navigation system, the EarthCARE scientific mission, the Euclid space telescope, and the CSO-3 reconnaissance satellite on Russian rockets. According to the publication, ESA intends to increase the budget for the development of advanced rockets and spacecraft by a quarter.
