The Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with three Gonets-M satellites and the Skif-D spacecraft successfully launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. This is the first rocket launch from Vostochny this year.
Communication satellites “Gonets-M” have not yet been sent into space from here. The Skif-D spacecraft became the first spacecraft launched into orbit under the Sphere program.
The Sphere program is a global multifunctional infocommunication system. It is assumed that by 2030 the constellation created within its framework should include 638 spacecraft. among which are 334 communication satellites, 249 Earth remote imaging devices and 55 navigation satellites. Vladimir Putin mentioned the implementation of this program during his “Direct Line” in 2018. In his opinion, this grouping is essentially capable of completely replacing cable communications with satellite ones, which will lead to an absolute revolution in the field of communications.
