Friday marked Russian Hockey Day. However, not everyone knows that there are quite a lot of types of this sport. For example, there is field hockey, there is even ice hockey, and there is roller hockey. Alexey Yarin, a coach for this type of hockey, spoke about it on the air of the “In the Morning” stream show.
“Roller hockey is essentially the same hockey as ice skating. The only thing that changes is the rollers. We, as a rule, play regular hockey, the rules are almost the same,” the guest said.
However, there are also differences. Roller hockey is played 4 on 4, as opposed to the classic 5 on 5. This is due to the fact that the rink for roller hockey is smaller than for ice skating.
It is quite natural that the coatings are different. Roller hockey is usually played on either asphalt or plastic surfaces.
“Roller hockey has been played in Chelyabinsk for ten years now. In other countries this is a very popular sport, people even play under contract, that is, they get paid for it. It is considered a professional sport. I hope it will be the same in Russia someday,” Alexey explained.
