370 boxers from 53 countries came to participate in the tournament for the prizes of the King of Morocco Mohammed VI. As part of the Russian national team, the South Urals went to the competition: boxer Edmond Khudoyan and Honored Coach of Russia Viktor Farkhutdinov.
A fighter from the Chelyabinsk region is the current champion of Russia. In the semi-final, he left no chance for Spaniard Rafael Lozano. In the final, the native of Zlatoust turned out to be stronger than the fighter from Morocco, Hamza Essaadi.
“A little dissatisfied with myself. After the championship of Russia there was no combat practice for five months. But for starters, it’s a good start. Further more. Let’s get in shape and show the best boxing at the World Championships,” Edmond Khudoyan shares his impressions.
On the final day of the competition, the fighter became the first member of the Russian team to enter the ring. After the fight, Edmond wished good luck to his compatriots.
The tournament has become a landmark for our country. The Russian national team performed under its own flag and paraphernalia. The anthem of the Russian Federation was played in honor of the winner.
