South Korea increases arms exports amid conflict in Ukraine

South Korea, which has become a country unfriendly to Russia, is actively increasing arms exports against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine, reports the Telegram channel of the Russian-Asian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
As noted, one of the country’s largest defense plants, Hanwha Aerospace (Changwon), has increased its production capacity threefold. And although the country officially adheres to the principle of not supplying weapons and ammunition to participants in active conflicts, these restrictions do not prevent the Koreans from increasing arms exports.
Last year alone, Seoul signed defense agreements worth $17.3 billion, of which $12.7 billion went to Poland.
The material says that against this background, claims from Seoul regarding the visit of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to Russia sound a little strange. In addition, shells produced by South Korea are sold to the United States.
It is noted that the South Koreans have long harbored ambitions to become one of the world’s largest arms exporters; their goal is fourth place after the United States, Russia and France, that is, even higher than China.
