Source: Kosovo’s accession to the EU will be difficult

The accession of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo to the European Union will be a long and difficult process due to the fact that five EU member states refuse to recognize its independence. This was stated to RIA Novosti by a source in Brussels.
Recall that the authorities of Kosovo signed an application for accession to the EU at a ceremony on Wednesday.
According to the source, when it comes to countries applying for EU membership, there is a certain procedure for joining the organization that must be followed, and Kosovo was no exception. However, in this case, there are many different parameters that the EU institutions must take into account, since five EU member states refused to recognize Kosovo. This aspect will complicate the process, the source said.
As noted, the bloc will consider the application of Pristina, however, any further steps in EU-Kosovo relations can only be made with the unanimous approval of all member countries.
