The Japanese company Sony could stop production of the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset, as it is not in demand. This is reported by Bloomberg citing sources within the company.

According to Bloomberg, Sony already has too many unsold devices in its warehouses. The company does not plan to resume production of PS VR2 until demand increases.

Previously Bloomberg reportedthat sales of PlayStation VR2 in the first month did not live up to expectations – the company managed to sell no more than 270 thousand devices, although they planned to produce about 2 million virtual helmets by the start of sales. The publication attributed the failure of the initial sales of the VR helmet to a decrease in interest in metaverses among users and technology companies, as well as the high price – the PlayStation VR2 costs $549 in the US and requires a PS5 console, which will cost another $499.

Earlier it became known that Russian retail chains that opened pre-orders for Apple Vision Pro virtual reality glasses had to warn consumers about the numerous limitations of the device’s performance, otherwise they would face large fines.
