Sony showed flagship noise-canceling headphones – Kommersant

Sony introduced The WF-1000XM5 is a new generation of flagship active noise canceling wireless headphones. The sale will start on July 26th. The headphones, available in black and silver, will cost $299.

The in-ear model received new 8.4 mm Dynamic Driver X speakers, three microphones in each earpiece and new HD Noise Cancelling Prover QNe 2 and Integrated Processor V2 processors for the noise reduction system. According to the manufacturer, the innovations have improved the sound quality and increased the efficiency of extraneous noise damping.

The new headphones support LDAC, SB3, AAC and LC3 codecs, and also work with DSEE Extreme technology based on artificial intelligence, DSEE Extreme enhances sound quality in real time by recognizing music and recovering data lost during file compression. It is stated that DSEE Extreme can also work with streaming services. The WF-1000XM5 also received the function of tracking the position of the user’s head to adapt the sound depending on the specific situation, and in addition, accessory control using head movements is supported.

Made in a combination of matte and glossy plastic, the headphones are 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the previous WF-1000XM4 model. The novelty can work without recharging up to eight hours with activated noise reduction, and the case increases the autonomy of the headphones up to 24 hours. In three minutes of charging, you can get an hour of work, and a full charge of the accessory takes an hour and a half. Declared moisture protection according to the IPX4 standard.
