Japanese company Sony reportedthat sales of the PlayStation 5 console have exceeded 50 million units. The PS5’s sales pace is only a week behind the PS4’s back in the day. Sony had sold 40 million PS5 units by July 2023, putting it almost two months behind the PS4.

The launch of the PS5 in 2020 was complicated by a shortage of consoles due to the semiconductor crisis. During the first two years, it was extremely difficult to purchase the console, and stores were constantly out of stock. By November 2023, supply issues in Europe were resolved, after which PS5 sales in the region soared by 376%. In the US, sales levels in November 2023 were down slightly compared to the same period in 2022, but this is due to the fact that problems with the supply of consoles in the US were resolved in November 2022.

Sony’s competitor Microsoft is not doing so well: by June 2023, the company managed to sell 21 million Xbox Series X|S consoles. Earlier, as a result of a leak, it became known that Sony and Marvel Deal about the joint development of video games in the X-Men universe until 2035.
