The cause was a drunken traffic accident
Ostap Stupka is the son of a famous artist and a popular actor himself. His filmography includes about 50 films; in “Taras Bulba” he played the Cossack Vertikhvost together with his father Bogdan Stupka, who played the role of Taras. Ostap is known to Russian viewers from the TV series “Major”. And also in the film “We are from the Future-2”, where he played the role of a centurion of the UPA (recognized as an extremist organization and banned in Russia).
Unlike his father, who always admitted that for him Ukrainians and Russians are fraternal peoples, Ostap chose the Ukrainian side with the beginning of the Northern Military District. Although he broke off relations with Russia even earlier – after 2014. In his interviews, Stupka Jr. stated that he would no longer act in Russian films.
In the next three years, he is unlikely to be able to act anywhere. On April 4 of this year, the artist drove his car into the oncoming lane and crashed into a parked car in which there was a man. The victim suffered serious injuries. The mortar was detained at the scene of the accident.
Tests showed that the level of alcohol in his body was 1.62 ppm. A criminal case was opened.
Today Ostap Stupka was sentenced to three years of restriction of freedom and 8 years of deprivation of rights. The actor felt that “this is not a completely fair decision. There are many mitigating circumstances. We asked for a fine, which would be more appropriate, more useful, and fairer for the state.” The verdict has not yet entered into legal force; 30 days are given to appeal.
According to the actor’s lawyer, in the event of a final decision, his client will face “confinement in open-type institutions without isolation.” The convicted person will have a specific schedule, according to which he must appear at the probation office and perform the work that is assigned to him there.
