Roman Vilfand: a cold front is approaching Russia
Russian weather forecasters spoke about abnormal cold weather expected in the regions of the Northwestern Federal District, Yakutia, the Urals and Siberia. The scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, said that in these regions the temperature will be 7-12 degrees below the climate norm.
In the Northwestern Federal District, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Republic of Karelia, temperatures are expected to drop to between minus 22 and minus 29 degrees. In the north of the Ural Federal District, in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, temperatures will be 7-16 degrees below normal, reaching from minus 25 to minus 32 degrees. In Taimyr the temperature will drop to minus 31 degrees.
The southwest of the Siberian Federal District will also not escape the abnormal cold. In the Tomsk and Irkutsk regions, temperatures are expected to drop 8-11 degrees below normal, which will lead to minus 22 and minus 21 degrees below zero, respectively.
And starting from April 12, cold air masses will cover Yakutia. In Yakutsk, if on Wednesday and Thursday daytime temperatures are still positive, and night temperatures drop to minus 8-10 degrees, then by Sunday it is expected to drop to minus 16-20 degrees at night and minus 4-9 degrees during the day.
